Mommy, family and parenting networks popping up in 2006

Well its about time! A slew of mommy, parenting and family web 2.0 sites have popped up and are popping up as we speak in the US and Australia – from the latest news I have. Hopefully the family-focused network I’m associated with will pop up from (surprise, depends where it gets financed) soon.

And to contradict a recent post on Women over 25 being extraterrestrials for VCs and web entrepreneurs, Maya’s Mom, a social network for parents out of my dear San Francisco got $1 Million in VC funding from(of course) a Palo Alto firm.

Do you think the finance gurus are realizing they have wives, mothers, sisters, who are human beings likely to enjoy networking with others online? Now that’s good news!

The other networks were as of today self-financed though, but it does show something is going on with families on the web.
